Despite typical declines in October, China’s imports of virgin and scrap commodity polymers and exports of fabricated plastic products are up 5-6% year to date. Continue reading
This article on China’s commodity polymer trade flows was published today in ICIS Chemical Business: http://www.icis.com/Articles/2012/05/21/9561012/trade-flows-reveal-china-polymers-picture.html
The data in the article is entirely from ITP’s China Polymer Trade Report. The article was co-authored by Jean J Sudol, president of International Trader Publications and Robert Bauman of Polymer Consulting International.
Imports into China of scrap and waste commodity polymers are large, growing, and should be considered along with imports of virgin polymer in analyzing China’s demand. Continue reading
China imported 18.1 million tons of virgin commodity polymers in 2011, down 2%; exported 2.7 million tons of virgin commodity polymers, up 38%; imported 8.4 million tons of scrap commodity polymers, up 5%; and, exported 6.2 million tons of specific fabricated polymer products, up 8%.
